DTL Diehards Descend on Darnick (again)!
Story and photographs by Gavin Horrigan

In spite of the hot and dusty conditions thirty nine shooters converged on Darnick, 75km west of Ivanhoe NSW, for the club's November shoot. Late on Friday afternoon people started to arrive. Locals parked their 4x4s and enjoyed a cool drink while those from further afield pitched tents or rolled out a swag. Shooting started after sunset with a night shoot novelty event. This was followed by an outback BBQ dinner under the stars.

The real deal started just after 9am the next day. Shooters, family and friends needed to keep in the shade and down plenty of fluids as the mercury quickly soared to 38°C by late morning. The remaining five events in the program ran the length of the day. Competitors and spectators enjoyed some great home cooked food, courtesy of the locals, as the empty shells quickly piled up. The day culminated with the presentation of sashes and trophies to the winners, another great BBQ meal and a few cold beers.

The club’s next shoot will be in April. Anyone interested in attending should contact the Darnick Club Secretary, Kylie Palmer, on (02) 6995-3997 for further information.
