OUR NEW BRANCH IS ESTABLISHED!
Melbourne Field and Game Inc., a new branch of Field and Game Australia, has been established in Victoria, using the grounds and facilities of the Melbourne Gun Club, and will give F&G members a new metropolitan shooting ground east of the city.
We will hold our shoots on the third Saturday of each month (except Duck Opening) from January 2008. Shoots will commence at 10am with a 75-target simulated field event throughout the year. |
Our 40-acre site is able to accommodate a wide range of targets in varying settings. One of the biggest and best equipped sites in Australasia and the site of the 2006 Commonwealth Games clay target events, Melbourne Gun Club boasts excellent facilities and has been hosting sporting clay shooting events for over 10 years, including the popular annual Remington Grand Prix.
Ideally placed in Victoria’s picturesque Yarra Valley, we are close to some of the country’s most prestigious wineries, restaurants and tourist attractions including Healesville Sanctuary, making an ideal setting for a weekend away with friends or family. It is only one hour’s drive east of Melbourne.
Melbourne Gun Club is located at Victoria Road, Lilydale, Victoria, Melway map reference 274 E9, UBD Map Reference 171 P14. |

Yet another creditable result from our Junior - Callum Houghton
Our simulated field shoot on the 17th May got under way under grey skies and steady rain which continued for most of the day. The number of competitors was down as some shooters were discouraged by the forecast conditions. About 70 shooters competed and we thank the enthusiasts who ignored the weather and contributed to the success of the shoot.

Young Callum Houghton, who has been showing impressive progress in both DTL and Simulated Field, once again returned an impressive result of 52/75 to win the Junior event. One wonders how good some of our Juniors would be with access to the resources too often unavailable to many of our potential champions. Well done Callum! |
